Steps to Register for the CMA Foundation/Intermediate/Final Course

1. Visit the official website of ICMAI.

2. Click on the Students tab from the menu.

3. On the new page, tap on “Online Admission.” You’ll land on the Online Student Registration System Page.

4. Choose the one from CMA Foundation/Intermediate/Final.

5. For more details, click on the “Read More” button below each course and find the relevant eligibility, fees, and study material.

6. Fill out the required information after clicking the Apply button. Further, you will receive an OTP in your mail.

7.After validating the OTP, fill out the remaining details. Enter all your details carefully and check them twice. You also need to submit documents which you can find in the later section.

8. Lastly, pay the CMA fees and download the confirmation receipt. Keep it safe for later use.

Practical Training is mandatory only for CMA Final students. If you are appearing for the Foundation or Inter exams, you are not required to complete this training.

At the Final level, there are two groups – Group 3 and Group 4. Students have two options:

• Appear for both groups together

• Appear group-wise, i.e., one group at a time

According to ICMAI:

• If you're appearing for both groups together, you must complete the entire 15 months of training before filing your exam form.

• If you're appearing group-by-group, you can appear for one group without training, but for the other group, you must complete 15 months of training before submitting the exam form.

In simple terms, training is required only at the time of CMA Final exam, and not before that.

The total training duration is 15 months.

Let’s say you’re preparing for the December term exam:

• Exam forms are generally submitted in September.

• You must complete at least 10 months of training by August 31.

• The remaining 5 months should be completed by February 10, before the result is declared.

Why do these dates matter? 

ICMAI checks your training status at two points:

• During admit card generation (10 months check)

• Before result declaration (15-month check)

 Pro Tip: Instead of waiting till February, try to complete all 15 months by August 31 itself. That way, you can dedicate your entire time after that to revision and exam preparation without worrying about completing your training.

For the June term, the logic is the same: try to finish your 15 months by February, even though only 10 months are officially required then.

There are two primary options to complete your training:

1. CMA Firms – These are cost accountancy firms registered with the ICMAI.

2. Companies with Eligible Turnover:

• ₹50 Lakhs for manufacturing companies

• ₹25 Lakhs for service companies

This opens the door for literally any organization across the country (or even abroad) that meets this criterion. Even your family business could qualify if it’s officially documented.

If you’ve already worked in an eligible organization for 15 months or more, you don’t need to do fresh training. You just need to get your previous work experience validated and approved by the Institute.

However, during the revision phase (3 months for one group, 6 months for both groups ideally), it is highly recommended to take a break from training or work to fully focus on revision.

Lack of revision is one of the key reasons why students miss out on passing, even when they've completed training.

As you now know, CMA students are required to undergo 15 months of practical training after clearing their Intermediate level, as per ICMAI guidelines. However, one of the major challenges students face is finding a suitable company that meets the eligibility criteria for training.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is  declared the CA Inter and Final May 2025 results on 6th July 2025, at around 2:00 PM, as per the announcement. The results are available on the official result portal of ICAI –icai.nic.in.

To check your result, follow these simple steps:

1. Visit the ICAI result website – https://icai.nic.in/caresult
   

2. Click on the link: “Intermediate Examination May 2025” or “Final Examination May 2025”
   

3. Enter your:

Pass With Distinction

If your overall aggregate is 70% or more, your marksheet will mention that you’ve passed with distinction.

ICAI provides an email facility where students can receive their results directly in their inbox.

Before we look at May 2025, let’s take a look at how students performed in the previous term:

Students who secure a rank in the top 50 across India will be listed in the merit list.

Steps to check:

1. Go to https://icai.nic.in/caresult
   

2. Click on “Check Merit List – Intermediate/Final May 2025”
   

3. Enter your Roll Number and Captcha

If a student fails in one or more papers but scores 60% or more in a subject, ICAI gives an exemption for that paper for the next three attempts.

• The exempted subject will be marked with a # in your marksheet

• Result status will show as: F-Ex

If you feel something’s wrong with your marks or a paper might not have been checked correctly, ICAI allows you to apply for verification of marks.

 In this process, ICAI checks:

• Whether all questions were evaluated
  

• Any totaling errors
  

 Deadline: You must apply within 1 month of result declaration.

• Statement of Marks: Sent via post within 4–5 weeks. If not received, email dms_examhelpline@icai.in

• Pass Certificate: Issued to students who clear both groups. Sent within 60 days of the result. If not received in 8 weeks, write to ICAI.
