1. Finish Your Classes on Time.
Completing your classes well before the exam is crucial. Ideally, your classes should be finished at least three months before the exams so you can dedicate enough time to revision. If you're behind, it's essential to catch up as soon as possible. Wrapping up your classes on time will give you a solid understanding of the topics and ensure you retain information longer.
2. First Revision: Key Considerations
Once your classes are done, start your first round of revision. At this stage, the focus should be on grasping concepts rather than memorizing everything. A good approach is to study two subjects a day—one practical (like accounting) and one theoretical (like law). This keeps you from getting bored or overwhelmed by sticking to one subject all day.
Give yourself about 7-10 days for each subject and aim to cover at least 75% of the syllabus in this first round of revision. For theory subjects, use ABC analysis to prioritize topics:
- A: Difficult and important
- B: Moderate
- C: Easy
For practical subjects, get familiar with the formats and solve at least 40% of the practical questions. This will help you develop a good understanding of the types of questions that come up and how to approach them.
3. Focus on High-Weightage Sections
While revising, keep an eye on the sections with the most weightage in terms of marks distribution. Begin your revisions with these areas, so by the end of your first revision cycle, you've covered the most important topics.
4. Solve Past Year Question Papers
After each chapter for both CMA Inter and Final, try solving questions from past three years’ papers. This will give you a good idea of what kind of questions you can expect from specific chapters.
5. Don't Skip ICMAI Study Material
While it’s helpful to study from your teachers’ books, make sure to switch to ICMAI study material at some point. This helps you get familiar with the institute’s language and key terms. By the end of the first 30-40 days, you should have finished 75% of your syllabus and completed the first revision for all subjects.
6.Second Revision: Deepen Your Understanding
The second revision should follow a similar pattern. Study two subjects a day, focusing on the topics you've marked using the ABC analysis and the charts you made. This will help you revise more efficiently. Aim to finish the second revision within 7 days for each subject, but don’t rush—take a couple of extra days if needed. At this stage, your goal is to cover the entire syllabus, not just 75%.
Once this round of revision is complete, start solving mock tests. There’s no shortcut here—practicing under exam-like conditions is crucial.
